Drivers traveling on closed sections for construction on Washington Luís Highway can use the shoulder; find out which locations
Drivers on the Washington Luís Highway in São Paulo can now use the shoulder in certain areas due to ongoing construction work.
Starting Friday, drivers navigating through closed sections of the Washington Luís Highway (SP-310) near São José do Rio Preto, SP, are allowed to use the shoulder in addition to the right lane. This decision affects the area between kilometers 444 and 442 heading towards the capital and has been authorized by the Road Police. The concessionaire responsible for the highway has announced that this shoulder usage will only be permitted while the left lane remains closed for construction work.
The construction is part of a broader initiative to improve the highway, and it has required certain alterations to traffic patterns. The concessionaire informed that to facilitate the shoulder usage, the return ramp to the interior-capital direction will be closed at the radial road "Valdemar de Oliveira Verdi" located at kilometer 444. This change has been made to ensure that traffic flow is maintained while critical work on the highway is performed.
Traffic authorities are monitoring the situation closely to ensure safety and compliance with the new rules. Motorists are encouraged to remain aware of changing conditions and follow all traffic signals and directions while driving through the affected area. The measure aims to improve the travel experience despite the disruptions caused by construction activities on the road.
