In the same pavilion and without cell phones: the new destination of the members of 'La Banda del Millón'
Members of 'La Banda del Millón' have been relocated to the same prison pavilion where they cannot access cell phones or the internet, following a request from authorities due to their coordinated criminal activities from behind bars.
Members of 'La Banda del Millón' are now housed together in a specialized prison pavilion where they will have no access to cell phones or any internet-enabled devices. This decision was made by the Buenos Aires Penitentiary Service in response to a request from Patricio Ferrari, the Deputy Attorney General of San Isidro. The rationale behind this measure stems from the group's extensive history of violence, which includes multiple robberies and two homicides, all orchestrated while some members were incarcerated.
The criminal organization consists of around 40 individuals, half of whom are currently imprisoned. Some members are minors, which highlights the complex and concerning nature of the group’s operations. The prison environment, especially in Buenos Aires, has been a hub for their activities, as some inmates were able to coordinate heists via video calls, directing operations without being physically present at the crime scenes, which has raised significant alarm among law enforcement agencies.
The decision to consolidate members of 'La Banda del Millón' in one location aims to disrupt their criminal networks by limiting their communication capabilities. This move is part of a broader strategy to combat organized crime in the region, particularly in areas like San Isidro where violent home invasions have become increasingly common. By implementing stricter controls on prisoners, authorities hope to prevent further criminal conspiracies and enhance the safety of the communities affected by these crimes.
