The Guayaquil cantonal council has appointed new board members for Emapag and Segura EP following the resignation of previous delegates.
The cantonal council of Guayaquil has recently appointed new members to the boards of Emapag and Segura EP in response to resignations from prior delegates. The session, which highlighted the changes, included a request from council member Arturo Escala to modify the agenda to discuss these resignations more extensively. Isabella Altuve and Viviana Aguayo stepped down from their respective positions, paving the way for new appointments.
In the wake of this reshuffling, Peggi Aguayo Barba was chosen to join the board of Emapag, bringing her experience from positions held in Bosque Samanes and Dase. Additionally, Luis Alfonso Saltos, a prominent architect with a background as an advisor to the mayor's office, was selected for the board of Segura EP. This decision reflects a strategic move by the council to stabilize leadership within these essential public service entities.
During the same session, discussions also arose regarding the prolonged handling of a case involving Mayor Aquiles Alvarez, with various council members voicing their concerns over the delays. Councilwoman Soledad Diab specifically criticized a comment made by President Daniel Noboa, likening it to a donkey that believes it is a unicorn, indicating a broader frustration with political rhetoric in the ongoing discussions surrounding city governance.
