The Sudanese Army Regains the City of Bara in North Kordofan and Secures Al-Obeid
The Sudanese army has regained control of the city of Bara in North Kordofan after a military operation against Rapid Support Forces.
The Sudanese army announced the successful retaking of Bara, the second-largest city in North Kordofan state, following a military operation that reportedly expelled Rapid Support Forces (RSF) from the city, inflicting losses on them. Early Thursday morning, the air force conducted extensive airstrikes targeting RSF positions within Bara, destroying military equipment and neutralizing several fighters. The strikes were said to have aimed at preventing RSF's reinforcements and securing the region.
Following the air campaign, the army launched a surprise ground assault from its positions north of Al-Obeid, the state capital, specifically from the village of Dankouj. This coordinated attack allowed the army to advance towards Bara and take control of its main entrances. During this operation, the army reportedly destroyed 32 RSF vehicles and captured an additional 10 in good condition, alongside inflicting casualties on RSF fighters during direct confrontations and drone strikes.
This military success is a significant development in the ongoing conflict between the Sudanese army and RSF, which has seen escalating violence. The control of Bara not only enhances the army's strategic position in North Kordofan but also represents a critical step in their efforts to reclaim territory amidst ongoing hostilities. The situation remains volatile as both sides continue to engage in conflict, raising concerns for civilians and the overall stability in the region.
