Both Estonian figure skaters fell during their performances, leaving Japanese competitors in the lead after the short program at the junior world championships.

At the junior figure skating World Championships held at Tondiraba Ice Hall, both Estonian skaters, Maria Eliise Kaljuvere and Elina Goidina, faced difficulties in their short program performances, resulting in falls. Despite their challenges, they managed to qualify for the free skate segment as they ranked among the top 24 competitors. The competition saw a strong showing from Japanese skater Mao Shimada, the reigning champion, who received the highest score of 71.90 points for her performance.

Following Shimada was her compatriot Mayuko Oka, who earned 69.77 points, placing her in a solid second position. The leaderboard featured Australian skater Hana Bath in third, accumulating 66.95 points. The overall competition displayed impressive talent, with several skaters poised to challenge for top honors in the free skate, setting the stage for an exciting conclusion to the event.
