On Thursday, award-winning Oulu author Joni Skiftesvik found himself in a precarious situation as he witnessed a pharmacy robbery in Pateniemi, Oulu. He confirmed to Yle that he was present during the robbery, emphasizing how a small altercation can be a matter of life and death. According to Skiftesvik, he encountered the robber, armed with a knife, as he entered the pharmacy, and the frightening atmosphere left the staff and customers in shock and tears.

Skiftesvik described the robber as wearing a black hoodie that obscured his face while the man appropriated an old bicycle and rode off towards a nearby roundabout. He noted the distress of the pharmacy staff and how desperately they reacted to the situation. After witnessing the events unfold, Skiftesvik provided the police with descriptions of the robber, and the pharmacy staff called the authorities while he was able to retrieve his medication.
