Bribes for contracts in Asl Bari, 7 investigated. Searches also in Treviso and Bergamo

A corruption investigation in Bari involves seven people, including public officials, tied to public contracts worth 1.3 million euros.

The Economic and Financial Police Unit of the Guardia di Finanza in Bari is conducting a series of searches as part of an investigation coordinated by the local Prosecutor's Office. The ongoing investigation involves seven individuals, including three public officials, under investigation for various offenses related to corruption against official duties and manipulating procurement processes.

The focus of the inquiry is on two public contracts for healthcare supplies awarded by the local health authority in Bari for the years 2024 and 2025. These contracts, valued at approximately 1.3 million euros, were awarded to companies based in the provinces of Bari and Treviso, specifically for the provision of trolleys and equipped walls destined for the Monopoli-Fasano hospital. The size of the contracts raises concerns about potential irregularities in the procurement process.

According to reports, among those involved in the investigations is Giordano Favero from Favero health projects in Treviso, and Nicola Sansoli, a former technical area director of the Asl in Bari, who has already been arrested in connection to earlier allegations. This case unfolds against the backdrop of ongoing efforts by Italian authorities to combat corruption in public procurement, highlighting the significant legal and ethical challenges faced by public institutions.
