Malpensa, the ideal city of women by Giulia Caruso celebrates March 8
In celebration of International Women's Day on March 8, Milan's Malpensa Airport hosts an art exhibition titled 'She’s Not Your Muse' by artist Giulia Caruso, open to the public until June 5.
In honor of International Women's Day on March 8, Milan Malpensa Airport has transformed into a vibrant space showcasing the artwork of Giulia Caruso. The exhibition, curated by Luciano Bolzoni and entitled 'She’s Not Your Muse', will be open to the public in the ArtHUB area of Terminal 1's Food Court until June 5. This significant event aims to celebrate women and their contributions to society through the lens of art.
At the center of the exhibition are the stories of non-existent women, envisioned as 'women who will come,' challenging the current societal norms. The accompanying artwork, inspired by the song 'She’s a Rainbow' by The Rolling Stones, features pop-themed yet profoundly symbolic depictions of these idealized figures. Each portrayal aims to evoke a sense of color and vibrancy, suggesting that these future women will bring new ideas and perspectives into the world.
This initiative reflects a broader cultural movement toward recognizing and celebrating women's roles in society, as well as fostering an environment of free exchange and creative thought. As Malpensa Airport transforms into this idealized ‘city of women’, it invites visitors to reflect on gender, creativity, and the possibilities of the future, making it a notable event for both the local community and art enthusiasts.
