Malpensa, works on one runway and part of scheduled flights at Linate
Milan Malpensa Airport will temporarily close one runway for maintenance from March 16 to May 9, causing some flights to be rescheduled to Linate Airport.
Milan Malpensa Airport has announced that runway 35L/17R will be closed for maintenance and technological upgrades from March 16 to May 9. Despite the closure, the airport will remain operational, utilizing its second runway; however, this will lead to a reduction in flight capacity and necessitate the rescheduling of some flights to Milan Linate Airport.
The coordination of this maintenance effort involves several key stakeholders, including Enac, Sea, Enav, Assoclearance, and various airlines. Together, they have developed a series of measures aimed at ensuring the smooth management of operations during the maintenance period, with a focus on minimizing disruption and maintaining high safety standards. Pierluigi Di Palma, Enac's president, emphasized the priority of passenger safety and the importance of these improvements for the future of airport services and infrastructure.
This closure is part of a broader initiative to enhance aviation infrastructure in Italy, highlighting the airport authorities' commitment to continuous improvement and modernization. Though the temporary adjustment may cause inconvenience for passengers, authorities assure that operational continuity and safety remain paramount throughout the maintenance period.
