IDF calls for evacuation from Dahia; Lebanon: We will expel any Revolutionary Guards found in our territory
The Lebanese government announced the arrest and expulsion of any Iranian Revolutionary Guards found in the country, as the IDF calls for residents to evacuate from the Dahia area of Beirut due to security threats.
The Lebanese government has declared that any member of Iran's Revolutionary Guards caught within its borders will be arrested and expelled. Additionally, it has mandated that all Iranian citizens wishing to enter Lebanon must apply for visas, signaling an effort to curb military activity from the Islamist organization. These developments come amidst heightened tensions as the IDF emphasizes the need for civilian evacuation, particularly from the Dahia area, which is perceived to be at heightened risk from Hezbollah's actions.
In a statement that sparked significant movement, IDF spokesperson Avichai Adraee urged residents of the Dahia neighborhood in Beirut to evacuate their homes. Following this call, thousands were seen leaving the area, contributing to heavy traffic as residents sought to exit the southern quarter of the city. This warning was accompanied by an earlier directive for all residents south of the Litani River to move northward, indicating an escalation in military preparedness and concern over Hezbollah's terrorist activities, which Adraee claimed necessitated a robust Israeli response.
Media reports from Lebanon noted ground forces entering areas near the border as tensions escalated. Furthermore, the IDF, in a precautionary measure, had previously issued evacuation notices for residents near the Dahia area, advising them to maintain a distance of at least 300 meters from potential conflict zones. The situation is volatile, and with both sides on high alert, it raises concerns about the potential for an escalation of military engagements in the region.
