Drivers die after truck collision in Belo Jardim
Two drivers have died following a collision between trucks on BR-232 in Belo Jardim, Brazil.
A tragic accident occurred on the morning of Thursday, the 5th, resulting in the death of two drivers on the BR-232 highway in Belo Jardim, located in the Agreste region of Pernambuco, Brazil. According to the Federal Highway Police (PRF), the incident involved a head-on collision between two trucks, which caused severe damage to the vehicles involved. Eyewitnesses captured video footage showing the extent of the destruction following the collision, emphasizing the violence of the impact which left the cabins of the trucks irreparably damaged and scattered cargo across the roadway.
Emergency response teams from the PRF, Fire Department, and SAMU were dispatched to the scene. One of the drivers was pronounced dead at the site of the accident, while the other suffered severe injuries and was rushed to a hospital in Belo Jardim. Unfortunately, despite receiving medical attention, the second driver succumbed to his injuries shortly thereafter. The PRF announced that they are maintaining a presence at the crash site while they await the arrival of the Institute of Criminalistics and the Medical Legal Institute (IML) for further investigation.
In the aftermath of the collision, the local Police Civil has initiated an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the crash.
