The newly established communication infrastructure management company, Baltic Tower Company, has emerged from the collaboration between Tele2 and GCI, following Tele2's decision to separate its telecommunications infrastructure assets. Funded by Manulife Investment Management, the company will take control of passive infrastructure including 2,700 communication towers located throughout Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia. This strategic move indicates a significant shift in managing communication resources in the region.
E. Stankevičius has been appointed to lead Baltic Tower Company, which will primarily serve Tele2 as its main client under a crucial 20-year service agreement, ensuring continued access to essential communication infrastructure. This long-term partnership is expected to solidify a stable framework for delivering services while enhancing the operational efficiency of tower management in the Baltic region.
The establishment of this independent infrastructure operator is part of a broader vision to upgrade and expand 5G and future technological developments in the Baltic States. With a commitment to invest in new technologies over the next decade, stakeholders are optimistic that Baltic Tower Company will play a pivotal role in driving digital transformation and ensuring high-quality service delivery in the growing telecommunications market.
