Equinor: 69 returned from the Middle East
Equinor successfully evacuated 69 employees and their families from the Middle East via a charter flight to Norway.
On Thursday morning, a charter flight landed at Gardermoen carrying 69 people, including Equinor employees and their families, as part of a planned evacuation operation due to rising tensions in the region. Most of those evacuated were stationed in Dubai, with others who were on vacation in the area also securing a place on the flight. Equinor's communication director, Sissel Rinde, confirmed that all employees who expressed a need for evacuation were accommodated on the flight.
In addition to Equinor, Kongsberg Gruppen successfully evacuated around 30 employees and their family members from Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, and Kuwait via Saudi Arabia. Their flight landed at Oslo Airport around 9 PM on Tuesday. This reflects a broader trend of Norwegian companies taking responsibility for the safety of their international staff amidst potentially dangerous situations in the Middle East.
Equinor rerouted their evacuation efforts through Muscat, the capital of Oman, demonstrating the strategic planning involved in these operations. The evacuation plan was initiated earlier in the week as management assessed the situation's risks and opportunities, underlining the diligence required to ensure the safety of personnel in volatile regions.
