Greater inclusion will demonstrate the success of digitalization: Klar

Stefan Möller, CEO of Klar, emphasizes the importance of attracting new users to the digital banking sector to demonstrate the success of their offerings, particularly focusing on the consumer and SME sectors.

In an interview ahead of the 89th Banking Convention, Stefan Möller, founder and CEO of Klar, discussed the main challenges facing new digital banking players, particularly the need to attract first-time users to the financial sector. He asserted that the success of their digital business model hinges on their ability to provide accessible and competitive financial services. Möller highlighted that the consumer segment is highly competitive, while there is a significant untapped potential within the small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) market that Klar aims to capture.

Möller identified their dual focus on growing consumer banking and targeting the SME market as key priorities for the company. He mentioned that they are leveraging their technological capabilities to ensure compliance and enhance operational efficiency, thus minimizing the risk of failure in regulatory adherence. This strategic approach is essential for winning over new customers and ensuring sustainable growth in the ringing digital banking space.

Furthermore, Klar is currently seeking authorization from regulatory authorities to acquire the bank Bineo, which would allow them to expand their competitive presence. Möller explained that transitioning from a Sofipo (a type of specialized financial institution) to a full-fledged bank has enabled Klar to validate its value proposition and confidently enter the banking sector, reaffirming their commitment to innovation and customer inclusion.
