Yle's new support survey reveals that SDP has deepened its lead over the National Coalition Party

A recent survey shows the SDP's lead over the National Coalition Party has widened to 7.1 percentage points, marking the largest margin during the current government term.

A recent survey conducted by Yle has revealed that the Social Democratic Party (SDP) has significantly widened its lead over the National Coalition Party (kokoomus), with a current margin of 7.1 percentage points. This marks the largest lead for the SDP during the current government’s term. In this survey, the SDP's support stands at 25%, while the National Coalition Party has decreased to 17.9%, its lowest level since December 2020, with significant drops in popularity, particularly among women voters.

Moreover, the survey indicates that the support for the True Finns (Perussuomalaiset) has risen by 1.6 percentage points, surpassing the Centre Party (Keskusta), whose popularity has decreased by 1.1 percentage points. The changes in support levels suggest a shifting political landscape in Finland ahead of the next parliamentary elections, scheduled for just over a year from now. Research Director Tuomo Turja noted that many former supporters of the National Coalition Party are currently in a state of uncertainty regarding their voting intentions.

As the political climate continues to evolve, it remains too early to draw firm conclusions about the upcoming elections. The shifting levels of party support illustrate the complex dynamics at play, as voters assess their options and parties adapt to these changing perceptions. With over a year until the elections, further developments in public sentiment and party strategies will be crucial to watch.
