A Marijampole resident suspects that his house roof was shot at – found 3 holes
A man from Marijampole believes that his roof was shot at after discovering three bullet holes, prompting a police investigation into property damage.
On March 4, a resident from the Marijampole district reported to the local police that on February 27, he noticed three holes on the roof of his house located in the village of Puskelmiai. The man, born in 1977, suspects that the holes may have been caused by gunfire. The estimated damage is around 200 euros. Consequently, the police have initiated a preliminary investigation into the suspected destruction or damage to property due to this incident.
The Lithuanian Penal Code stipulates that if a person destroys or damages another's property in a manner that poses a danger to the public, and if this could have endangered others, they could face fines, restrictions on liberty, or imprisonment for up to five years. This legal framework highlights the seriousness of property damage incidents that might also pose risks to public safety.
This incident raises concerns about safety in the area and the potential implications of gunfire in residential neighborhoods. It underscores the need for community vigilance and police involvement in investigating and resolving such alarming occurrences, particularly given the potential risk to residents from any further incidents of gun violence in the vicinity, however unintentional the act may have been.
