"What if the governor changes when the president has just changed?"... Woo Sang-ho registers as a preliminary candidate for Gangwon Province Governor
Woo Sang-ho, a former senior secretary to the Blue House, has registered to run for governor of Gangwon Province as a preliminary candidate for the Democratic Party of Korea, marking the official start of the election race.
Woo Sang-ho, who has been named the first candidate of the Democratic Party of Korea, officially entered the election race by registering as a preliminary candidate for the governor of Gangwon Province. On the other side, the People Power Party has already seen candidates An Jae-yoon and Yeom Dong-yeol register, while the sitting governor, Kim Jin-tae, is leveraging his position to strategize behind the scenes, leading to an active campaign environment as the election approaches. Woo insists the change from President Yoon Suk-yeol to Lee Jae-myung is significantly transforming South Korea and promises that changes in Gangwon's governorship would also be palpable for residents.
In addressing the demands for the prompt processing of the third amendment of the special law for Gangwon, Woo criticized the People Power Party for boycotting parliamentary committees, suggesting that if Governor Kim really wishes for the law's passage, persuading party leadership to facilitate legislative discussions should be his priority. He pointed out that framing the challenges surrounding the amendment as a partisan issue misrepresents the facts. Moreover, he reaffirmed his commitment to expedite the processing of the special law if elected.
Concerning development plans for Gangwon, Woo outlined an ambitious vision to transform the area into a globally recognized city by attracting world-class companies and improving key aspects such as education, healthcare, and transportation to enhance living conditions. He expressed a desire to ensure that even underprivileged local students have access to international schools, emphasizing a collaborative approach with the central government to address potential educational issues, demonstrating his proactive stance on regional challenges.
