Jigawa federal varsity expels 20, suspends 15 over exam malpractice

The Senate of the Federal University, Dutse in Jigawa State has taken stringent actions against students involved in examination malpractice by expelling 20 and suspending 15 others. This decision was made following the recommendations from the Senate Committee on Examination Misconduct, which assessed the incidents during the Second Semester of the 2024/2025 academic session. The statement detailing the actions was released by the Director of Academic Affairs, Nora Dannatta.
In addition to the expulsions and suspensions, the Senate also exonerated two students and issued warnings to three others, highlighting a range of responses based on the severity of the reported offences. The university has emphasized that such disciplinary actions are necessary to maintain academic integrity across both undergraduate and postgraduate studies. This step reflects a growing emphasis on safeguarding educational standards within Nigerian universities.
