The University of Calabar (UNICAL) has suspended nine students due to violations concerning examination integrity and results authenticity. This decision, announced by the Registrar, Dr. Chukwuka Icha, was reached during the 252nd Senate meeting after an evaluation of reports from both the Ad-Hoc Senate Committee on Examination Malpractice and the Senate Students' Disciplinary Committee. It highlights the institution's commitment to maintaining academic standards and integrity.
Among the suspended students, five faced penalties for engaging in examination malpractice, while the remaining four were found guilty of submitting falsified academic records to the university. The institution's management has decided to enforce a two-year suspension starting from the 2024/2025 academic session, which reflects the seriousness with which the university treats issues of academic dishonesty.
