A 92-year-old man was injured during a robbery in which a woman, posing as a helper, stole his wallet after he withdrew money from the bank.
In a troubling incident in Mateus Leme, Brazil, a 92-year-old man fell and sustained injuries after being robbed by a woman who pretended to offer assistance with his groceries. The event, which occurred on Tuesday, was captured by security cameras. The footage shows the suspect, identified as 46-year-old Izabel Cristina Passos da Silva, taking the elderly man’s wallet from his shirt pocket while he attempted to resist, resulting in him losing his balance and falling onto the pavement.
As the elderly man shouted for help following the fall, the robber fled the scene with his wallet. Despite sustaining scrapes to his knee, the victim chose not to seek medical treatment. The police were quick to apprehend Izabel, and during her arrest, the charges against her were confirmed as robbery. This incident raises significant concerns about the safety of vulnerable populations, particularly the elderly, and highlights the deceptive tactics used by criminals in targeting them.
Prior to the robbery, the victim had reportedly withdrawn R$ 1,000 from a bank and spent approximately R$ 200 at a supermarket. This incident not only emphasizes the challenging realities faced by elderly individuals in urban settings but also points to the urgent need for community awareness and preventive measures to combat such deceptive criminal behaviors.
