Ratinho Jr. anticipates early definition of presidential candidacy for the PSD
Paraná Governor Ratinho Jr. has suggested that the PSD party may announce its presidential candidate ahead of schedule, potentially by the end of March.
Paraná Governor Ratinho Jr., one of three pre-candidates for the presidential nomination of the PSD party, stated that the party might choose its candidate earlier than expected during a lunch meeting with financial sector representatives. He indicated that there seems to be a conducive atmosphere for a decision to be made as soon as the end of March, possibly before the deadline set by PSD president Gilberto Kassab, who has mentioned an announcement by April 15.
The competition for the party's nomination involves Ratinho Jr. facing off against Eduardo Leite, the governor of Rio Grande do Sul, and Ronaldo Caiado, the governor of Goiás. All three candidates are scheduled to participate in a joint PSD event in São Paulo on Friday, which could serve as a platform for their respective campaigns and public presentations as they vie for the party's support.
Ratinho Jr. expressed confidence in the collaborative spirit within the PSD, mentioning positive relations with Kassab and other key party figures, highlighting the importance of unity among party members regardless of who ultimately receives the nomination. This early definition could greatly affect the political landscape leading up to the Brazilian presidential elections, particularly as the candidates position themselves as alternatives to incumbent President Lula and Flávio Bolsonaro.
