Governor Caleb Mutfwang has distributed 70 electricity transformers to various communities in Plateau State to enhance power supply and access to electricity.
In a significant move towards improving the electricity supply in Plateau State, Governor Caleb Mutfwang has launched the distribution of 70 electricity transformers to communities across the state. The governor's announcement came during a ceremony in Jos, the state capital, where he emphasized the need to strengthen power supply, particularly to vulnerable and underserved areas. This initiative reflects a growing demand for enhanced energy solutions as the state continues to prioritize access to electricity for its residents.
Initially, the government had approved 55 transformers, but due to increased demand, an additional 15 units were granted approval, leading to the total of 70 transformers aimed at improving the local power infrastructure. Governor Mutfwang illustrated the importance of electricity as a basic right, asserting that consistent and reliable power supply is crucial for economic growth, small business development, job creation, and the overall quality of life for the citizens of Plateau State.
This initiative not only highlights the state's commitment to electrification but also marks a strategic step towards the completion of a 132KVA transmission line installation, which will serve the Southern and Central Senatorial Zones. By enhancing electricity supply, the government aims to foster an environment conducive to economic activities and better living conditions, thus addressing longstanding power shortages in many communities.
