Director Toni Kurkimäki from Blankface Films has been conducting test shoots around the Iisalmi-Vieremäki area, aiming to capture authentic landscapes reminiscent of the Winter War. He noted that Vieremäki offered visually appealing backdrops and strong local support for the production's needs, which are crucial for authenticity in the film.

Kurkimäki expressed that finding proper filming conditions is essential to ensure that the film portrays the historical context accurately, especially regarding the winter conditions experienced during the Winter War. The team was encouraged by promises of necessary snow for filming by local supporters, with one stating that snow typically lasts in their area until almost May Day.
