Finnish Forward Promoted to NHL

Finnish forward Juuso Pärssinen has been called up to the NHL by the New York Rangers.

The New York Rangers have officially announced the promotion of Finnish forward Juuso Pärssinen to their NHL roster. This decision, shared through the Rangers' affiliate Hartford Wolf Pack's social media, marks a significant step in Pärssinen's career as he transitions from the AHL to the NHL level. The 25-year-old Turku native has had a promising season so far, scoring 2 goals and providing 1 assist in 14 NHL games, and 5 goals plus 1 assist in 11 games in the AHL.

In addition to Pärssinen, the Rangers have also elevated fellow forward Jaroslav Chmelař, known to Finnish hockey fans for his prior stints in Finland from 2018-2022 where he played for teams including KTJ Haukkoja, Kiekko-Vantaa, and Jokers. This move comes as the Rangers place their captain, J.T. Miller, on the injured list, creating an opportunity for Pärssinen to fill in for the injured center.

The timing of Pärssinen's call-up is particularly notable due to potential shifts in the NHL trade deadline. With current rumors suggesting that center Vincent Trochek is likely to be traded this week, the Rangers' center position is becoming more streamlined, which could further solidify Pärssinen's role as he steps into the spotlight at the NHL level.
