Finnish ski jumper Sofia Mattila won a bronze medal at the Junior World Championships in Lillehammer.
Sofia Mattila, a promising Finnish ski jumper, secured a bronze medal in the Junior World Championships held in Lillehammer, Norway. Competing in the women's HS98 normal hill event, Mattila started the competition in eighth place after her first jump, where she achieved a distance of 99 meters but lost points due to a poor landing. Her second jump, which reached an impressive 97 meters, elevated her to third place, earning her a spot on the podium.
In addition to Mattila, fellow Finnish competitor Julia Äikiä also participated, finishing the event in eighth place. The gold medal was claimed by Czech jumper Anezka Indrackova, while Norway's Ingvild Synnøve Midtskogen took home the silver. Mattila's achievement is particularly noteworthy as she prepares to compete in the upcoming Milan-Cortina Olympics, where she previously finished 44th in the normal hill and 39th in the large hill events, showcasing her potential for future successes in the sport.
