Pickup driver crashes into a truck and flips over in a tunnel on the Immigrants highway
A pickup truck collided with a trailer and overturned in a tunnel on the Immigrants Highway in Brazil, but no injuries were reported.
On Wednesday morning, a pickup truck was involved in an accident where it collided with a trailer and subsequently overturned inside the tunnel of the Immigrants Highway. Fortunately, no individuals sustained injuries from the incident, which occurred around 8:30 AM at kilometer 50 heading towards São Paulo. Social media footage captured the scene, showing the overturned vehicle and the driver still inside the cab. The driver underwent a breathalyzer test, which returned negative, indicating that alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
The police report indicates that the accident happened when the pickup truck crashed into the rear of the trailer, causing it to flip. Although the passengers in the pickup declined medical assistance, they planned to file an official police report later. The highway's traffic authority, the Military Highway Police, and the concessionaire managing the Immigrants system, Ecovias, responded to the situation. This resulted in temporary lane blockages, specifically for lanes one and two, although they were cleared by 9:30 AM.
Despite the clearing of the lanes, traffic remained slow in the area as vehicles adjusted to the aftermath of the accident. The situation highlights the importance of road safety measures on the busy Immigrants Highway, particularly during peak travel times. No serious injuries were reported, which is a relief for both the occupants of the vehicle and those navigating one of Brazil's key transport routes.
