Iran Launches 86% Fewer Ballistic Missiles, Says US General
The United States, alongside Israeli forces, has commenced a large-scale campaign against Iran, leading to a significant decrease in the number of ballistic missiles and drones launched by Iran.
The United States initiated a significant military campaign against Iran on Saturday, collaborating with Israeli forces in response to ongoing tensions in the region. Iran retaliated by launching waves of missiles and drones aimed at countries with deployed US troops or bases, posing a substantial challenge to regional security. US General D. Caine reported a drastic reduction in Iran's missile launches, stating that the rate had decreased by 86% since the start of hostilities, with a 23% drop occurring in the last 24 hours alone. Additionally, the launches of Iran's unilateral attack drones have also seen a reduction of 73% from the initial days of the conflict.
General Caine further explained that US forces are actively targeting and destroying Iran's ballistic missile systems to prevent them from threatening US troops, allies, and interests in the region. This proactive measure reflects the US military's strategic objective to mitigate Iranian missile capabilities, which pose a significant risk with over 500 ballistic missiles and more than 2,000 drones launched by Iran. The actions taken by the US aim to enhance the safety and security of their personnel and those of their allies in the volatile region.
Experts have expressed concerns regarding the stockpiles of air defenses available to the US and its allies, highlighting the ongoing challenge posed by Iranian missile and drone threats. Despite these worries, both General Caine and Pentagon leader Pete Hegseth have reassured that measures are in place to safeguard US forces and maintain regional stability amidst the conflict with Iran.
