New victim claims son of former undersecretary of Castro is known as 'potential rapist'

An 18-year-old has reported being abused by Vitor Hugo Simonin, who is accused of participating in a collective rape case in Copacabana and is described as a 'potential rapist' known in school for inappropriate behavior.

An 18-year-old woman has come forward to the police alleging that she was abused by Vitor Hugo Simonin, who is implicated in a collective rape case involving a teenager in Copacabana. The victim stated that Simonin was known among peers as a 'potential rapist' for his history of inappropriate behavior towards female students at Colégio Pedro 2º, where they both attended. His father, José Carlos Costa Simonin, served as the former undersecretary of Governance and Compliance in the government of Cláudio Castro, adding a layer of public interest to the case due to the family's political connections.

Following the victim's report, Vitor Hugo Simonin was arrested. The allegations include a pattern of abusive behavior, with the victim noting that he would inappropriately touch girls at their school. The media outlet Folha reached out to Simonin's lawyer, Ângelo Máximo, for a comment, but he was unavailable as he was attending to his client at the police station. He indicated that he would make a statement upon the conclusion of the legal proceedings.

As of the report's publication, the Colégio Pedro 2º has yet to issue a formal response to the accusations of sexual misconduct occurring on its campus. The case brings attention to issues of violence against women and the conduct of individuals connected to positions of authority, raising critical discussions about accountability in educational environments.
