Janitor arrested on suspicion of sexual crimes against teenagers in schools in Belém
A janitor in Belém, Brazil, has been arrested for alleged sexual offenses against teenagers at schools where he worked.
On Tuesday, the Civil Police of Brazil arrested a man who was under investigation for committing sexual crimes against teenagers at educational institutions in Belém. The suspect was employed as an outsourced janitor in various schools in the capital and is accused of abusing his position to carry out these offenses. A preventive arrest warrant was issued by the Court of Guarantees of the Metropolitan Region of Belém following the investigation.
According to police reports, one teenager informed her school’s administration that in August of the previous year, the janitor attempted to kiss her while she was inside the guard booth. She further alleged that he touched her inappropriately and had made offers of payment for gym membership and a mobile phone in exchange for sexual favors. Another victim testified during a specialized interview that he pulled her inside the school and tried to engage in sexual acts without her consent. Notably, these two victims did not know each other and attended different schools.
The incidents reportedly took place in 2025 during separate instances, revealing a concerning pattern of predatory behavior. According to the police, the suspect will face serious charges given the severity of the crimes and the vulnerability of the victims involved, highlighting issues surrounding child protection in educational environments as well as the responsibilities of hiring or supervising individuals who work closely with minors.
