The 'star' of the brutal murder gang remains restless even behind bars: caught for extortion after the couple of pensioners was tortured to death

A Lithuanian court has opened a case against three individuals, including R. Jurevičius, for extortion involving violent threats against another inmate following the brutal murder of a pensioner couple.

On March 2, the Kaunas District Court began proceedings on a case involving extortion that implicates R. Jurevičius and two others, Erik Osikevičius and Jegoras Ščebartiukas. The prosecution claims that Jurevičius and Osikevičius attempted to extort 4,300 euros from their fellow inmate, G. J., asserting that he had obtained this sum from a convict named K. U. The brutality of the incident is highlighted by accounts of severe violence inflicted on the victim, including multiple blows while he was down and threats involving a sharp object by Jurevičius.

In a disturbing escalation, another inmate, G. R., is reported to have also suffered at the hands of the same gang, being coerced into paying 7,000 euros under similar threats. The case suggests a systematic approach to extortion among inmates, with brutal tactics employed to enforce compliance and instill fear. The authorities are taking a serious stance, with charges of extortion now placed against all three individuals involved, potentially leading to significant prison sentences.

This case sheds light on the ongoing issues of violence and criminal behavior within Lithuanian prisons, raising concerns about the welfare of inmates and the effectiveness of prison management in curbing such activities. The behavior of the accused not only reflects a broader problem of organized crime within correctional facilities but also poses serious questions regarding inmate safety and justice for victims of such violent acts.
