Operation investigates support network for crime organization leader who spent 8 months in hiding

The Civil Police of Rio Grande do Norte launched Operation Auxilium to investigate a support network for a crime organization leader who had been on the run for eight months.

The Civil Police of Rio Grande do Norte has initiated Operation Auxilium to investigate a network allegedly supporting a crime organization leader who was evading law enforcement for eight months. This operation followed the successful execution of several legal actions, including a preventive arrest warrant, four precautionary measures involving electronic ankle bracelets, and 17 search and seizure warrants across various cities including Caicó, Areia Branca, São João do Sabugi, and Petrolina (PE).

The investigation is targeted at individuals who are suspected of providing both direct and indirect support to the heads of the armed criminal organization, who has been implicated in serious crimes such as homicide, drug trafficking conspiracy, illegal possession of firearms, and money laundering. The network's activities have come to light following the earlier 'Operation Cerberus I', which initially targeted the same leader in 2025, and this has now escalated into a broader inquiry of criminal facilitation and organized crime in the region.

The success of Operation Auxilium highlights the ongoing efforts of the authorities in combating organized crime within Brazil, particularly in regions known for high levels of criminal activity. This operation, focusing on dismantling support structures for crime leaders, is critical for overall law enforcement strategy to undermine the operations of such organizations, ensuring that they are held accountable and that public safety is restored in affected communities.
