Ministry of Economy and Ceneval promote micro-credentials to professionalize the logistics sector

The Mexican Ministry of Economy has partnered with Ceneval to create specialized micro-credentials aimed at enhancing the professionalization of the logistics sector.

The Mexican Ministry of Economy, together with the National Center for Evaluation of Higher Education (Ceneval), has signed a collaboration agreement to develop ten specialized micro-credentials under the Ruta Logística MX program. This initiative is designed to bolster the professional training of individuals in the logistics sector, enhance industrial competitiveness, and establish performance standards within the supply chain. The agreement outlines mechanisms for collaboration in the design, implementation, and evaluation of these credentials, focusing on technical functions, operational processes, supply chain management, and strategic areas linked to logistics.

During the signing of the agreement, Sergio Silva Castañeda, head of the Economic Growth and Promotion Unit of the Ministry of Economy, emphasized the importance of strengthening specialized talent for productive development in Mexico. He stated that for Mexico to aim for greater and improved growth, it is essential to enhance its workforce skills, particularly in critical sectors like logistics. This move reflects a growing recognition of the logistics sector's vital role in Mexico’s economy, especially given its strategic position in global supply chains.

The introduction of these micro-credentials is also part of a broader trend towards professionalization within various sectors in Mexico, which aligns with the goals of improving educational standards and adapting workforce capabilities to meet industry demands. By investing in education and professional development, Mexico seeks to position itself as a competitive player in the global market, ensuring that its labor force is equipped with the necessary skills to thrive in an evolving economic landscape.
