RN registers rain in all regions and has a new alert for intense precipitation

Rio Grande do Norte experienced significant rainfall across all regions, leading to class cancellations and a new weather alert for heavy rain.

Over a 24-hour period from the morning of Tuesday, September 3, to Wednesday, September 4, Rio Grande do Norte (RN) recorded substantial rainfall throughout most regions, according to the state's meteorological data from the Empresa de Pesquisas AgropecuΓ‘rias do Estado (Emparn). In particular, the municipality of Santa Cruz in the Agreste region suspended classes in rural schools and halted school transportation due to the damaged roads resulting from the rainfall.

The Instituto Nacional de Meteorologia (Inmet) issued a fresh alert for intense rainfall across the entire state, which is effective until the end of Wednesday. Forecasts indicate potential rainfall amounts ranging from 20 to 30 mm per hour and total accumulation of up to 50 mm over a day. Additionally, strong winds could reach speeds of 60 km/h, intensifying the impacts of the heavy rain.

Inmet has warned of a low risk of power outages, downed tree branches, flooding, and electrical discharges due to the inclement weather. They advise the public to stay informed about possible wind gusts and to exercise caution during this period of adverse weather conditions that could affect daily life in multiple ways.
