Civil Police seizes two tons of hashish in the West Zone of Rio
The Civil Police of Brazil seized two tons of hashish in Jacarepaguá, West Zone of Rio de Janeiro, resulting in a significant financial blow to drug trafficking operations.
On the morning of Wednesday, October 4, agents from the Capital's Division of Robberies and Auto Thefts (DRFA) seized two tons of hashish in a significant bust that took place in Jacarepaguá, part of Rio de Janeiro's West Zone. This operation not only resulted in the immediate seizure of drugs but also dealt an estimated financial loss of around R$ 100 million to the drug trafficking networks operating in the area. The sheer volume of hashish indicates the scale of drug operations within the city and poses serious public safety concerns.
The hashish was discovered inside a residence that was reportedly being utilized as a storage facility for the drugs. According to the police, the property featured a logistical structure purposed for the protection and distribution of the hashish. This organized setup highlights the sophisticated nature of drug trafficking operations in Rio de Janeiro, where traffickers have established complex networks to distribute narcotics.
In connection to the bust, the police apprehended several individuals, including a couple in their 50s and their adult son and nephew. These individuals were taken to the DRFA headquarters at the City of Police for questioning related to the case. The Civil Police have urged the public to come forward with any additional information regarding the trafficking network, emphasizing the importance of community cooperation in combating drug-related crimes in the region.
