Tsahkna: Special flight for Estonian citizens will leave Oman on Thursday
A special flight organized by the Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs for citizens stranded in Oman is scheduled to depart for Tallinn this Thursday.
The Estonian Foreign Minister, Margus Tsahkna, announced that the first special flight from Muscat International Airport in Oman to Tallinn is scheduled for this Thursday. This flight is aimed at assisting Estonian citizens stuck in the Middle East region, particularly in Oman and Dubai, where it has been reported that approximately 1,500 Estonian nationals are located. Those who have registered on the Ministry's Travel Smart website will receive direct notifications regarding this special flight.
Tsahkna mentioned that the Foreign Ministry has been working around the clock to facilitate the return of Estonian residents from the Middle East. As of Tuesday, he advised citizens in the region to remain in urban areas and refrain from traveling to other locations, including Oman, for safety reasons. The collaboration with a partner to operate this special flight was confirmed only earlier today, highlighting the ministry's swift response to the situation.
To participate in this flight, individuals must have registered on the Travel Smart page of the Foreign Ministry, indicating their location as Oman or the United Arab Emirates. The cost for this flight is set at 400 euros per person, providing an opportunity for citizens to safely return home during challenging circumstances in the region.
