Oil Price: Diesel Prices Surpass Two Euro Mark

The price of diesel in Germany has risen above two euros per liter due to the ongoing conflict in Iran.

The recent conflict in Iran has led to a significant increase in diesel prices in Germany, pushing them over the two-euro mark. As of 7:15 AM, the national average price was reported at 2.05 euros per liter, although it showed variability throughout the day, dropping to 1.99 euros by 8:30 AM. This fluctuation is typical, as fuel prices usually are higher in the morning than in the evening by more than ten cents. However, this recent surge appears to be overshadowing the ordinary trends of daily price changes.

In addition to diesel, the price of Super E10 gasoline also saw an increase, reaching a peak price of 1.99 euros per liter in the morning. While gasoline prices experienced a rise, they did not escalate as sharply as that of diesel, which, according to the ADAC, is more sensitive to crises. The quick rise in fuel prices had already begun earlier in the week, with significant hikes noted on Monday and Tuesday.

The nationwide average price for E10 on Tuesday was 1.90 euros per liter, after accounting for the daily variances. This ongoing trend reflects broader impacts from geopolitical events, suggesting that fuel costs may continue to fluctuate significantly, affecting consumer behavior and economic conditions across Germany as the situation in Iran evolves.
