Frp: Criticizes Støre for 'mumbling' about Iran
Sylvi Listhaug criticized the Ap government for not providing clear support for military actions against Iran, while Jonas Gahr Støre defended the government's stance as strongly critical of Iran.
In a recent session of the Norwegian Parliament, Sylvi Listhaug, a prominent member of the Progress Party (Frp), accused Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre of 'mumbling' regarding Norway's position on the Iranian regime. Listhaug expressed her frustration that the current government has not clearly supported the military actions taken by the United States and Israel against Iran. Instead, she suggested that the Norwegian government's response has been largely critical of the military offensive, which she sees as inadequate in light of the oppressive regime in Iran.
In response to Listhaug's criticism, Støre firmly defended his government's record, insisting that they have been vocally critical of the Iranian regime's actions. He highlighted that the government's position has been consistent and clear, including recent negotiations that stretched into the weekend. Støre emphasized that the government is aligned with the Iranian people's struggle for freedom and their aspiration to regain it from the oppressive clerical rule.
Listhaug also targeted the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs for its deployment of a response team to assist in Dubai, questioning the necessity and effectiveness of specialized assistance in such a scenario. Støre, on the other hand, supported the decision, suggesting that documented resources should be allocated to appropriately aid the situation. This exchange illustrates the ongoing political discourse in Norway regarding foreign policy, particularly in relation to Iran and broader geopolitical matters.
