SOS International inundated after attacks on Iran

Since the attacks against Iran, SOS International has been flooded with calls from concerned Swedes regarding their safety.

Following the recent attacks on Iran by the U.S. and Israel, SOS International has reported a significant increase in incoming calls, which have doubled compared to normal levels. This surge is largely driven by anxious Swedes who are seeking advice on their travel safety in the Middle East. Ola Magnevall, the operational chief at SOS International, expressed concern over the risks associated with travel in the region.

Most of the calls have been from individuals safely situated elsewhere but planning to transit through the Middle East. SOS International has advised these travelers to stay informed by monitoring updates from the Swedish Foreign Ministry and local authorities, as well as maintaining contact with their airlines. The organization emphasizes that choosing to travel to regions that the Foreign Ministry advises against can result in complications, including difficulties in securing assistance should an emergency arise.

The rise in calls reflects broader concerns about travel safety in tumultuous regions, particularly following military conflicts. The warnings from safety authorities signal a need for vigilance and preparedness among travelers, underlining how quickly changing geopolitical situations can affect personal safety and travel plans. SOS International aims to navigate these concerns by providing timely advice to safeguard Swedish citizens abroad during these uncertain times.
