The South Korean Ministry of National Defense announced that Admiral Kang Dong-gil, the Chief of Naval Operations, has received a one-month suspension for violating his duties during the unlawful emergency martial law declaration that occurred on December 3. The Ministry stated that the suspension was due to his involvement in directing his subordinates to assist in the setup of the martial law command post. Although he retains his title during the suspension, he will not carry out his duties and will experience a reduction in salary.
