The tragedy of five vocational training students in Santander who found death on the beach after receiving their grades: "They came to enjoy nature"

Five vocational training students tragically drowned in Santander after a wooden walkway collapsed while they were on a recreational outing.

On Tuesday afternoon, at around 4:30 PM, a wooden walkway connecting two cliffs in El Bocal, Santander, collapsed, resulting in a group of seven people, including six young women and one man, plummeting into the water and rocks below. Emergency services confirmed that a provisional count indicated five fatalities, with their bodies being retrieved from the sea and rock formations. One victim, a woman, succumbed to her injuries in the intensive care unit at the University Hospital Marqués de Valdecilla. The group, all aged between 20 and 25, had come together to celebrate the end of their studies at the Integrated Vocational Training Center La Granja in Heras, which adds to the tragic irony of the event as they sought to enjoy nature after receiving their academic results.
