Imo APC councillor donates educational materials to constituents

The APC councillor Magnus Chibuike Okorie has donated educational materials to students in his ward during an empowerment program.

Magnus Chibuike Okorie, the All Progressives Congress councillor representing Owerre-Ebeiri ward at the Orlu legislative council, has made a significant contribution to the education of local students by donating over 3,000 school bags, textbooks, and uniforms. This initiative took place during his one-year scorecard and empowerment program, highlighting his commitment to the welfare of his constituents. The councillor, who is also the majority leader of the Orlu legislative council, expressed that witnessing students in worn-out uniforms deeply inspired him to take action in improving their educational experience.

During the program, Okorie detailed that his motivation came from visiting local schools where he observed pupils wearing torn and inadequate clothing. He took it upon himself to fund this initiative, ensuring that students received not only the necessary educational materials but also tailored uniforms. The initiative was further supported by contributions from Mazi Nzeribe Azukwu, president of the Old Owerre-Ebairi Progressive Union in the diaspora, demonstrating a collaborative effort to uplift the educational standards in the community.

In addition to the donations, he purchased 35 Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) forms for students aspiring to continue their education. This donation underscores the importance of educational access in Nigeria and reflects the positive impact local leadership can have on the youth. Okorie's actions resonate as a model for other leaders, emphasizing grassroots initiatives to address educational challenges in communities.
