The Military Police in Niterói conducted an operation on Monday afternoon targeting armed criminals in the Alto do Morro area, located at the boundary between the Coréia and Palmeira communities. The police, part of the 12th BPM (Niterói), aimed to disrupt the activities of an armed faction known as TCP. During the operation, officers were met with gunfire from approximately eight armed individuals, resulting in a violent confrontation in which one suspect was fatally shot while the others managed to escape temporarily into the nearby wooded area.

After securing the area and conducting a thorough search, law enforcement successfully apprehended seven individuals suspected of involvement in the shooting. In this operation, authorities also confiscated five rifles, two handguns, and a defensive grenade, significantly disrupting the faction's operations in that region. The incident highlights the ongoing challenges faced by law enforcement in combating organized crime and ensuring public safety amidst rising violence in certain neighborhoods.

The case has since been forwarded to the local police precinct for formal registration and further legal proceedings.
