Ecuador's government allocated $2.56 million to provide new equipment for the National Police, including ballistic vests, helmets, and batteries for communication radios, to enhance the police's operational capabilities.
On Tuesday, a ceremony was held at the Cuartel Modelo to present new equipment for the National Police of Ecuador. The event was led by Interior Minister John Reimberg, in the presence of Government Minister Nataly Morillo, Police General Commander Pablo Dávila, and Guayas Governor José Arévalo. The funding allocated by the State amounts to $2.56 million for the acquisition of these essential items, which include 1,338 ballistic protection vests, 3,127 helmets, and 5,603 portable radio batteries.
Minister Reimberg emphasized that this new equipment is intended to strengthen the operational capabilities of the police across the country. He highlighted that these improvements would enhance field coordination and allow for a more timely response to threats, ultimately aiming to bolster the security environment in Ecuador. The provision of these resources is seen as a critical investment in public safety, especially in light of increasing crime rates in various regions.
Pablo Dávila, the General Commander of the Police, reaffirmed the institution's commitment to citizen security and underlined the importance of providing adequate conditions and equipment for police personnel. The acquisition of these resources represents a proactive step towards improving the efficacy of law enforcement in the country and is part of broader efforts by the Ecuadorian government to combat rising insecurity and ensure safer communities.
