Cirque du Soleil to perform in São Paulo and Curitiba in the second half of the year

Cirque du Soleil will perform in São Paulo and Curitiba in the second half of this year with its show 'Alegría - In A New Light.'

Cirque du Soleil, the renowned Canadian circus company, is set to bring its spectacular show 'Alegría - In A New Light' to Brazil in the second half of the year, with performances slated for São Paulo and Curitiba. Although specific dates and venues have yet to be announced, the return of Cirque du Soleil to Brazil is highly anticipated following its 2024 shows.

'Alegría - In A New Light' is a reimagined version of the original 'Alegría,' which debuted in 1994. The storyline follows a kingdom in decline after the king's mysterious disappearance, a narrative that invites intrigue as various characters vie for the throne, including the court jester. The performance will showcase Cirque du Soleil's hallmark acrobatic acts, featuring breathtaking stunts like fire knife juggling, trampoline jumps, and ten-meter-high trapeze performances, all performed by a diverse cast of 54 artists from 18 different countries, including significant representation from Brazil.

Accompanying the circus acts is a contemporary rendition of the show's original music composed by René Dupéré, which was nominated for a Grammy for Best Instrumental Arrangement with Voices in 1995. This new version fuses electronic and rock sounds with acoustic elements, played live, enhancing the overall experience of the performance. The return of Cirque du Soleil to Brazilian stages promises to be a vibrant celebration of artistry and culture, engaging audiences with its unique blend of storytelling and acrobatics.
