In Flamengo, a district in South Zone of Rio de Janeiro, a couple experienced a scam while attempting to lease their apartment during the bustling carnival season. They offered their two-bedroom unit for temporary rental to capitalize on the high tourist demand during this festive period. An individual contacted them, expressing interest in facilitating the rental to foreign tourists and collected R$ 3,000 for a three-day rental, under the pretext of managing the transaction.
