Ukrainian forces hit Russian air defence sites and military infrastructure
Ukrainian forces successfully targeted Russian air defence systems and military infrastructure in recent strikes on 2 and 3 March.
Ukrainian forces launched a series of strikes against Russian military targets on 2 and 3 March, focusing specifically on air defence sites and military infrastructure. The operations were confirmed by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, highlighting significant hits on various components of the Russian military’s radar systems, including an S-300 surface-to-air missile radar station located in the temporarily occupied Luhansk Oblast.
Among the confirmed hits were the Sopka-2 air target detection radar and the 39N6 Kasta-2E2 radar located in the Russian-occupied territories of Crimea. Additionally, a repair unit related to a motorised rifle brigade was struck in Zachativenka of taken Donetsk Oblast, along with unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) command posts near Rodynske and Pokrovsk in the same region. These actions illustrate Ukraine's ongoing efforts to diminish Russian operational capabilities in critical areas of military strength.
The strikes not only reflect Ukraine's tactical responses to ongoing military engagements but also symbolize a broader strategy to disrupt Russian military operations in occupied territories. By targeting key military infrastructure, Ukraine is attempting to weaken the overall command and control of Russian forces, potentially paving the way for further offensive operations and reclaiming occupied regions.
