Iran denies targeting Oman’s lands and ports
Iran has categorically denied any military attack on Oman, amid reports of drone strikes affecting the country’s port facilities.
On Tuesday, the Iranian armed forces' headquarters issued a firm denial of any military strikes against the territory and ports of Oman, emphasizing their relationship with the 'brotherly and friendly nation.' This statement followed allegations by the Oman News Agency that drones had struck a fuel tank at the port of Duqm, two days after previous attacks on the same site. Despite these reports, the Omani agency did not specify any party believed to be responsible for the attacks, leaving ambiguity around the security incident.
Simultaneously, the Iranian military's Khatam al-Anbiya headquarters reaffirmed that Iran does not harbor hostility towards neighboring countries and is committed to maintaining the security and interests of Muslims in the region. They reiterated that Iran's focus is primarily on targeting the Israeli entity and U.S. military presence in the region, reflecting the broader geopolitical tensions in the Middle East.
The narrative surrounding potential drone strikes and military exchanges highlights ongoing tensions in the region, particularly between Iran and its neighbors. The lack of clear accusations in the Omani report raises questions about regional security and whether the situation could escalate further, emphasizing the need for diplomatic dialogue to prevent unnecessary confrontations among nations in this volatile area.
