Fourteen students from Nova Friburgo, located in the mountainous region of Rio, are set to travel to São Paulo this Wednesday to compete in the National Robotics Tournament, a prestigious event that attracts more than 2,000 participants from around the country. The students are part of the Tucanus team from Firjan SESI Friburgo and will be competing in the FRC category, which features large robots that can weigh up to 55 kg and exceed 1.5 meters in height.

This year, the team introduces a unique twist by having one of their members pilot the robot using a gaming guitar, inspired by the popular video game Guitar Hero. This innovative approach highlights the creativity and adaptability of the students, aligning well with the competition's emphasis on engineering and robotics skills. The team from Nova Friburgo has a commendable track record; in 2025, their coach was awarded the title of Best Coach in Brazil during the same competition.

The participants, aged between 15 and 19, are among more than 80 young individuals from the Firjan SESI network aspiring to secure a spot in the World Robotics Championship in the United States. Their participation not only showcases their technical skills but also their commitment to advancing in the field of robotics, making this event a significant milestone in their educational journey and a step towards international competition.
