"Rytas" Negotiates to Release Another Player

The Lithuanian basketball team "Rytas" is considering releasing player J. Wiley, who is currently recovering from a knee injury in the USA.

The Lithuanian basketball team "Rytas" is in discussions to potentially release 31-year-old American player J. Wiley, who has been sidelined due to a knee injury. Wiley, who also holds a North Macedonian passport, suffered the injury during a game against "Jonava" on February 7. He has sought medical assistance from doctors who previously operated on him, which has resulted in him missing at least six matches, including the King's Mindaugas Cup semifinals in Šiauliai.

Over the course of the season, Wiley has averaged 8.9 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game in the Lithuanian Basketball League (LKL) while maintaining impressive shooting percentages. In the FIBA Champions League, his averages are slightly lower, with 7.3 points and 5.8 rebounds per game. Given his recent injury and absence from games, Rytas appears to be exploring options in the market to find a suitable replacement for him.

As part of their adjustments, Rytas has already made a roster change by bringing back Augustas Marčiulionis to the team, having released Jordan Walker. This indicates the club's proactive approach to its roster, especially in light of Wiley's ongoing recovery and the season's progression. Rytas seems focused on ensuring they remain competitive by evaluating the current player market for potential additions.
