A 23-year-old man from southern Norrland has been sentenced to prison for throwing a grenade at the door of an apartment building in Värnamo. The incident occurred after he reportedly received an ultimatum related to a drug debt, which he alleged could result in harm to himself and his family if he did not comply. He filmed the act using his mobile phone, which he had with him when he was apprehended shortly after the explosion.

The court highlighted the serious risk posed to residents, as the incident took place during early evening hours when foot traffic was high. Initially, another man who accompanied the 23-year-old was arrested but has not been charged with any involvement in the explosion. The 23-year-old claimed that he was approached via a Snapchat group, where he was promised 44,000 kronor for carrying out the act, which he intended to use to settle his drug debt.
